ABOUT FOBSD
Friends of the Buea School for the Deaf, Inc. (FoBSD) was founded in 2007 in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, uniting a vibrant Deaf community with a committed Cameroonian-American network. Our mission is to build moral and financial support for the Buea School for the Deaf (BSD) in Cameroon—a region where deaf education receives little to no governmental assistance.

FoBSD works to challenge and change the stereotypes that limit the potential of deaf individuals. We’re inspired by BSD’s founders and current leaders, Aloysius and Margaret Bibum—both accomplished deaf professionals who model what's possible for the students they mentor. BSD’s dedicated teachers, interns, and volunteers continue to raise awareness among families about the life-changing value of education and the economic independence it can bring.

FoBSD became a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit in February 2008 (Tax ID: 26-0765074). We welcome all supporters—just $25 enrolls you as a member.
Additional donations go toward critical initiatives like the school’s new building campaign.
